Select the edge node returned by edge_near.
When Select Fills is off, lp_hover can highlight an edge outside every face. The click path still requires live_paint_at, so it can clear the selection instead of selecting the highlighted edge.
The edge fallback must use the ID returned by edge_near. Do not assign n.id from the group walk; that selects the Live Paint group rather than the edge target required by the selection action.

…s and the highlight
Double-clicking the Live Paint Selection tool did nothing, and the tool
always selected faces and edges and highlighted them in red at 4 px.
It now opens Live Paint Selection Tool Options with Select Fills,
Select Strokes, Color and Width, the options the reference app's help
page on selecting objects lists.
- With Select Fills off, a click selects the edge nearest the pointer,
as Alt-click does. With Select Strokes off, Alt-click selects the
face under the pointer, as a click does. With both off, a click
selects no face or edge.
- Color (a layer color or a custom color) and Width (1 to 20 px) set
the highlight on the face or edge under the pointer.
- The defaults are the earlier behavior: both selections on, red
(#ff2a2a) and 4 px. The options are tool options (tool.setOption
{tool: "livePaintSelection"}): they last across tool switches and
are saved with the preferences.

Thanks @dotCooCoo, merged. It went through the full gate (fmt, clippy, tests, layers, wasm) in a batch with the other PRs landed today. |
What and why
Double-clicking the Live Paint Selection tool did nothing, and the tool always selected faces and edges and highlighted them in red at 4 px. The reference app's help page lists four options, opened by double-clicking the tool: Select Fills "Selects the faces (the area within edges) of Live Paint groups", Select Strokes "Selects the edges of Live Paint groups", Color "Sets the color for the highlight", and Width "Specifies how thick to make the selection highlight" (Live Paint Selection tool options). The page gives no defaults or ranges.
tool.options {tool: "livePaintSelection"}, dialoglivePaintSelectionOptions). OK runstool.setOption {tool: "livePaintSelection", values}. The options last across tool switches and are saved with the preferences.#ff2a2a) and 4 px. The Live Paint Bucket's highlight does not change.docs/mcp.mddescribes the options in its Live Paint entry, anddocs/target-app-parity.mdhas one line about them. Select Fills and Select Strokes have rows in the 23 catalogs. How it was tested
New tests, each failing without the change:
builder::tests::live_paint_selection_options_choose_what_a_click_selects(vectorcraft-tools): the defaults; with Select Fills off a click inside a face selects nothing and a click by an edge selects the edge; with Select Strokes off Alt-click by an edge selects the face and highlights it; with both off nothing is selected or highlighted.builder::tests::live_paint_selection_options_set_the_highlight(vectorcraft-tools): the highlight's color and width follow the options; a layer color's name works; a value that is not a color or a number is ignored, and the width stays within 1 to 20.dialogs::live_paint_selection::tests::double_clicking_the_tool_opens_its_options_and_ok_sets_them(vectorcraft-ui-egui):tool.optionsopens the dialog on the defaults, OK sets the options, a click on a Live Paint group then follows them, and they last while another tool is chosen. Also run:
