Selection methods now return muse::Ret, and selection boundary expansion is implemented in NotationSelection. Selection and add-to-selection commands use typed declarations and registrations. Shortcuts, menus, plugin mappings, and selection state mappings use typed command IDs. Affected enum parameters use EnumContract. The muse subproject reference also changes.
Merge Risk: Low · up to 62ede
The change is mergeable with awareness of three bounded selection issues: command metadata can misdescribe navigation, range expansion can leave its endpoint offscreen or retain an old hit context, and one advertised add-to-selection target is rejected.

Full details: Docstring Coverage
Explanation
Docstring coverage is 4.35% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 23 functions across 21 files. (1 skipped: 1 unsupported.)
Resolution
Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Review comments at @src/app/configs/data/shortcuts.json:
- Around line 226-235: Update the saved-shortcut loading and merge flow for the
selection commands shown in the diff so it maps legacy selection URIs to their
new command IDs before merging shortcuts. Preserve each saved sequence and
existing shortcut settings during the mapping, and ensure the migrated entries
override defaults rather than leaving legacy entries inactive.
Review comments at @src/notation/internal/notationselection.cpp:
- Around line 259-264: Implement BeginSystem and EndSystem handling in the
selection-target dispatch so each request either selects the corresponding
system boundary or is explicitly rejected as unsupported; do not return success
while leaving the prior selection active. Preserve the existing behavior for
other SelectionTarget cases.
- Around line 390-392: Update the range-selection path near select to run the
interaction’s existing edit-termination checks before expanding the selection,
so editing ends before the range changes. Reuse the established termination
mechanism and preserve the current selection behavior when no edit is active.
- Around line 390-392: In the boundary-endpoint path around select, also reveal
the selected endpoint and clear the prior hit-element context, matching the
behavior of directional selection.
Review comments at @src/notationscene/notationcommands.h:
- Around line 79-84: Remove Annotation::Idempotent from SelectNextItemCommand
and the corresponding relative navigation commands, and ensure generic selection
tools do not expose idempotentHint: true for relative targets.
- Line 47: The notation command registration must continue handling legacy
selection command URIs used by plugins. Update the Command registrations around
the new notation commands to retain handlers or aliases for the old URIs,
including command://notation/goto-first-element, while keeping the new command
URIs available.
- Around line 263-266: Update the AddToSelectionTargetCommand schema to
advertise only targets the handler supports, and validate target in the handler
so unsupported values such as next-segment are rejected instead of returning
success with an unchanged selection.

When a user edits a note and extends the selection to the end of the score, the range changes but editing remains attached to the note. Subsequent arrow keys move that note instead of operating on the range. Route the selection through the interaction’s edit-termination checks.

Reveal the endpoint and clear the hit context.
When a boundary endpoint is offscreen, selection does not pan to it. After a previous mouse hit, the keyboard context menu can also use that item instead of the range. Apply the same updates as directional selection.
