Then I need a quantitative metric to characterize the stability of a signal
So I can use it for a quality scoring system

Most of the quality checks involve the stability of signals; then we need to find a metrics to quantify this stability. Something like the standard deviation might be an option, but I think some more advanced metrics exist. We need to investigate these.
