Hi, I'm Tim 👋

I’m Director of the UCLA Library Data Science Center and co-lead UC’s Open Source Program Office.

  • 🏗 I build research data and software infrastructure—supporting UCLA Dataverse, FAIR data practices, secure research workflows, and computational research across campus
  • 🧭 I design and coordinate education programs across the UC system, including UC Carpentries workshops and open curriculum development
  • 🌐 I collaborate across the UC OSPO Network to strengthen open source sustainability, governance, and research software education
  • 🎓 I mentor student researchers through the UCLA DataSquad, supporting projects ranging from 3D data systems to civic data investigations
  • ✍️ I contribute to open lessons on Python, open science, and research software sustainability
