A playground and centralized repository for system design concepts, frameworks, and detailed architectural implementations. This project combines Java-based design examples with comprehensive documentation for real-world system design interview problems.
The repository is structured to include both structural frameworks and individual system architectures:
├── src/main/java/code/example/ # Java implementations of system design concepts
├── instagram_timeline_feed_design.md # Architecture and design for an Instagram-like feed
├── personalized_google_feed_design.md # Design for a personalized, high-scale Google Feed
├── rate_limiter_system_design.md # Deep dive into designing a scalable Rate Limiter
├── system_design_interview_framework.md # A step-by-step framework to tackle system design interviews
├── build.gradle # Gradle build configuration
└── settings.gradle # Gradle project settings
- Comprehensive Framework: A structured approach to breaking down complex system design interview questions (
system_design_interview_framework.md). - Real-World System Architectures: End-to-end designs covering data flow, database choices, scalability, and bottlenecks for:
- Instagram Timeline Feeds
- Personalized Google Feeds
- Distributed Rate Limiters
- Code Implementations: Hands-on Java examples representing design patterns and software architectural components under
src/main/.
This project uses Gradle as its build automation tool and requires Java JDK 8 or higher (JDK 11+ recommended).
Verify your local Java installation:
java -version- Clone the repository:
git clone https://github.com
- Navigate into the project directory:
cd SystemDesignPlayground - Build the project using the Gradle wrapper:
./gradlew build
You can read through the markdown files directly on GitHub or using any markdown viewer to study the system design breakdowns.
To execute or run tests on the Java components within the playground:
./gradlew run(Alternatively, you can import this directory directly into IntelliJ IDEA or Eclipse as a Gradle project).
Contributions, corrections, or additional system design deep dives are always welcome!
