About the pull request

  • Adds Latejoin spawn points for allmost all roles that spawn in the common latejoin area in lower after. Those being: DP, GP, DCC, CT, QM, MST, OT, MT, CE, Tanker, ASO, SO, XO, CO, CC, CL & CB.
  • Adds Icons for Supply, Engineering, and Corporate latejoin landmarks
  • Changes Researcher spawn landmark icon to use Corporate colors, and no longer medical.
  • Adjusts many spawn landmark icons to have the same positioning (mainly to avoid OCD induced pain)
  • Adds numerous parents for latejoin landmarks, organising the list of them cleaner for mappers.

Explain why it's good for the game

We got a lot of roles spawn at lower after if they late join, and many of them have a long way to reach their vendors. In case of CIC staff they will have to run through the entire almayer, even if they spawnd 1 minute late. Just no fun, and it also makes it harder for player to find their "station". Simple fix. Additonally some new latejoin icons to be more clear and neat.

Icons got adjust in their positioning a bit simply to be unifrom, besides being not looking random it also allows the latejoin landmark icon to be clearly visible for mappers.

Lastly i slaped a parent on almost all roles that spawn on the almayer. Simply to avoid the condition of "long-list-itis".
Having the long list of stuff in SDMM be a bit sorted is always very lovly to see.

Add:
Changed researchers landmark spawn icon to WY colros like CL, being they are part of em nowadays. Makes it a bit clearer mapping wise, and why not sort em correctly if we already color code the roles.

For the past two years we've deliberately tried to make things push further for interaction, all this does is basically make the game feel even more empty.

I dont think your reasoning is good enough for this change, it just boils down to 'i dont want to bother being a part of the bigger enviroment'
Why do we also not make it so everyone starts with full hunger
Why do we also not make it so everyone can just choose their loadout from the spawn menu?

These things make the almayer feel more alive, sure its annoying to walk through the ship but the things you can see, the people you can talk to are a part of naturally occuring roleplay, and i think this pushes everything into more tdm, as much as i hate to say it

I get your view on this, i truly do.
But i like to remind you of just how busy many roles are.
Often so busy that you have very little free time to actually RP. Many roles suffer from that. HM predrop as example.
So running from lower after often just takes away from the little time they had.
Yeah, you will maybe run past someone. But you arent even geard up yet, and not in a good position to start engaging in RP.

Furthermore, to make gameplay worse for the sake of RP is a bandaid solution
Removing all setup indeed would go to far yes, but streamlining setup does not.
We already do so very well in squad prep. Players spawn close to their station even late, and have ample time to RP while gearing up.

Making players consitently have less time to RP for the sake of inconsitend chances to RP is simply not enough reason to keep the latejoin spawns in after.

ADD:
I forgot to say this, but you count as latejoin for joining into a round thats only going for 1 minute.
So one of the opertunitys to be "part of the bigger enviroment" is having to run through an empty ship and miss out on pre brief RP in CIC, all for the chance of MAYBE finding someone that sprinted out of prep to RP with.
No to mention that you can sometimes just fail to roll a job for no reason, and then just immediatly late join for it anyway.
I do so regularly for PO.

Pushed changes:
After checking in with others, turnd researchers landmark spawn icon from medical green to corporate white. Being they are part of WY nowadays. (Unless a missunderstanding happend, then i change it again.)
