fix(nextjs): infer auth.protect() predicate return type from the token option - #10211

Conversation
The predicate overload return type moves to a follow-up change so this one only alters runtime behavior.

the machine-specific generic overload requires a `token`, and add a distinct
predicate overload for calls that omit it. Ensure option objects with an
optional `token` property cannot select the machine-specific overload without
guaranteeing the matching runtime token type.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win
Require a token when the predicate return type is machine-specific.
auth.protect<typeof TokenType.ApiKey>(() => true) is allowed because token is optional. At runtime, an omitted token defaults to a session token. A signed-in session request therefore returns a session object even though this overload declares an API-key object. Code that uses API-key fields can then fail. Add a separate predicate overload for the omitted-token case, and require token in the machine-specific generic overload. Account for option objects whose token property is optional. TypeScript permits callers to specify a generic argument explicitly. (typescriptlang.org)

Stacked on #10198.
auth.protect()ignored thetokenoption in its return type when a predicate was passed first.auth.protect(() => true, { token: 'api_key' })was typed as a session auth object while the call returns the API key auth object. The predicate overload of
AuthProtectnow infers its return type fromtoken, matching the options-only overloads. Calls withouttokenkeep the session auth object type.Code that reads session-only fields such as
sessionIdfrom the result of a predicate call with a machinetokennow fails to compile.Checklist
