WalkthroughThe TensorRT-LLM sidecar now supports image request conversion when model metadata advertises image support. Image media is included in generation requests and disaggregated paths. CI adds TensorRT-LLM sidecar GPU testing and an aggregated image test configuration. ChangesTensorRT-LLM image support

Review comments at @.github/workflows/pr.yaml:
- Line 940: Update the trtllm filter so changes to tests/serve/test_sidecar.py
match it, allowing sidecar-trtllm-test to run when that file changes; add
filter-test coverage for a PR changing only that file.
Review comments at @tests/serve/test_sidecar.py:
- Around line 214-217: Update the skip logic around _trtllm_serves_openengine()
so optional local runs still skip when OpenEngine is unavailable, but the
required CI image-test lane fails clearly when its servicer is missing.

Previously reported defects still present:
- Original discussion: The TRT-LLM filter still omits
tests/serve/test_sidecar.py, so a PR changing only the new image test can skip the sidecar TRT-LLM GPU lane. - Original discussion: The required pre-merge image case still uses
skipifwhen the OpenEngine servicer is absent, allowing the new GPU lane to pass without exercising image support. - Original discussion: This remains present:
sidecar-trtllm-testrequires both thesidecarandtrtllmfilters, but a PR changing onlytests/serve/test_sidecar.pydoes not match the TRT-LLM filter, so the image test lane is skipped. - Original discussion: This remains present: the required pre-merge image configuration uses
pytest.mark.skipifwhen the TensorRT-LLM image lacks OpenEngine, allowing the dedicated lane to pass without exercising the feature it is intended to validate. - Original discussion: Verified still present: changes limited to tests/serve/test_sidecar.py do not match the trtllm filter, so the new sidecar-trtllm-test job is skipped and the image path is not exercised.
- Original discussion: Verified still present: the required pre-merge image configuration uses skipif when OpenEngine is unavailable, allowing the dedicated CI lane to pass without exercising image support.

The OpenEngine bindings installed and the model files downloaded. After that, run_image_test.py gave up when the TRT-LLM engine still wasn't ready after 600 s, so no image requests ran. The job log has no engine output, so it doesn't show why the engine never came up.

Please keep the new sidecar GPU integration test in post-merge/nightly CI.

Summary
Forward ordered image HTTP(S) URLs, data URIs, and explicit caller UUIDs through the native TensorRT-LLM OpenEngine sidecar.
This PR contains no runtime source overlay, personal-fork pin, CI workflow change, or container-based HTTP E2E change. Automatic MM-aware KV routing remains separate.
Merge prerequisites
Depends on NVIDIA/TensorRT-LLM#20446 and an official published TRT-LLM nightly containing it. Before merging, update the standalone sidecar engine-version references in the launch guidance, deployment YAMLs, and README to that verified nightly, then validate direct-engine integration against it. Those version updates and official-runtime GPU validation are pending.
Container-based E2E coverage is split into trtllm-sidecar-image-e2e. That follow-up waits until Dynamo's in-process runtime container adopts the matching TRT-LLM version. The wiring PR does not require that shared-container upgrade.
Validation
Relates to DIS-2971; this is image passthrough only and does not complete its video/audio scope. MM-aware routing remains DIS-2972.
