Not ready to pull but could be a useful starting point. My concern is #675 will change where database operations are performed from services to components which will obsolesce these specific changes. |

I fixed the errors caused by upgrading to SQLAlchemy 2.0 and also upgraded SocketIO, Flask-HTTPAuth, and EngineIO
