Privacy

Finance Guru is designed around local handling of sensitive financial data. Private files live in an instance directory outside the repository checkout, and the working database, family_office.db, sits under that instance root.

Keep private

Do not commit or publish:

  • .env files, access tokens, provider setup URLs, or API keys
  • account numbers, balances, positions, transactions, or tax documents
  • local filesystem paths that disclose personal data
  • generated analysis artifacts containing personal financial information

Tracked repository files describe behavior and never carry household values. When documentation needs financial evidence, write it as a ratio, percentage, or round scenario value rather than a real amount.

Configure integrations safely

SnapTrade and SimpleFIN values belong in the instance .env only. The SnapTrade account-routing file, snaptrade-accounts.yaml, also stays under the instance root. Follow the repository’s configuration reference, and inspect diffs before every commit.

Public documentation boundary

Examples in this Wiki use generic tickers and placeholder repository URLs. They do not prove account access, a successful provider sync, a production deployment, or an available investment strategy.

See Architecture and Data Flow for the data boundary and Wiki Maintenance for the publication review checklist.
