Taking over this one for maintainer batch worktree-git-10. I will preserve author credit, rebuild the smallest correct change against current main, and verify repository matching and the resulting Git actions before publishing. |

Remaining gates at the published head: Test Web and the aggregate Check failed after one retry. Failures are in the unchanged WorkflowOpeningBlock syntax-highlighting case and AttachmentFilePreview browser case; the focused WorkflowOpeningBlock suite passes locally. Other running CI jobs passed. CodeRabbit's current-head review was rate limited; its success context does not establish review coverage of this head. Obtain passing CI and a fresh configured or human review before merge; this takeover is published but is not merge-ready. |

A thread could show an open linked pull request while Git actions still offered to create another one. The clients now reuse a loaded open link only when its explicit head repository and branch match the checkout receiving the action. Provider lookup results, including closed and merged PRs, take precedence. Missing identity keeps the existing actions.
Checkout identity comes from local VCS status, rather than cached project metadata. Ambiguous tracking or push configuration declines fallback, including different tracked remotes, push overrides, remote-prefixed publish branches, conflicting fetch/push repository identities, and pushInsteadOf. This adds at most one batched config process per uncached local-status read; warm reads use the existing cache. Optional head-repository metadata passes through the existing summary and snapshot reads, with no extra provider request. Web/desktop controls and mobile chat, review headers, and overview use the same resolver. Draft metadata is retained; unlinking restores creation. Credit to @sebastianfdz for the diagnosis and original implementation in #20041.
Verification at bc50102831, against main 5b72385065:
Before, base component with the same fixture:
After:
A foreign fork head on the same branch retains creation:
Recording: app pushes the fork fixture commit to its isolated remote.
Limits: no macOS, Windows, native iOS/Android menus, Electron runtime, or remote/relay/tunnel verification. GitHub, Forgejo, Bitbucket, and GitCafe retain explicit head metadata where their existing reads supply it. Current GitLab and Azure reads do not supply head identity and safely decline fallback, as do old snapshots/servers, ambiguous SSH/web-port mappings, and conservative multi-remote/push configurations. Ordinary insteadOf follows configured repository identity; arbitrary URL rewrite expansion was not added. Human review and current-head CI remain required before merge.
