how to use "--untimed" and a motion interpolation filter to work together?

Is there a way to use "--untimed" and a motion interpolation filter like "amf_frc" to work together?

I have tried "amf_frc" and "--untimed" and it doesn't work (no interpolation) unless you take out "--untimed".

I would like to use "--untimed" to lower latency.

Not really, they work against each other. amf_frc doubles the frame rate by generating intermediate frames (vf.rst), each with its own timestamp. Those only look smoother if mpv waits until that timestamp before showing them. Without audio to sync to, --untimed turns exactly that off: the PTS gap to the next frame is added in handle_new_frame() and then reset to 0 when untimed is set (video.c#L400, #L642-L647). So the in-between frame goes out immediately, right next to the real one, which would explain why you see no interpolation.

What I'd try instead, keeping timed playback:

mpv --profile=low-latency --video-latency-hacks=no --vf=amf_frc=future-frame=no ...

• low-latency cuts buffering. Its interpolation=no only affects mpv's own VO interpolation, not amf_frc.
• That profile also enables video-latency-hacks, which the manual says can drop too many or too few frames when a filter changes the FPS (options.rst). amf_frc does change it.
• future-frame=no removes the one frame of latency the filter adds by default (vf.rst).
