Wing Commander III (USA, Europe) sound cuts out during videos

I am using a .chd file of Wing Commander III and during videos sounds plays fine for a few seconds, then crackles and then goes out completely. I am using Retroarch on Android. My device should be beefy enough, so that this should not be related to performance (I am using an Ayn Thor).

Is this a known issue?

Sound no longer cuts out but now the game freezes randomly at the start of videos.

You're really going to need to provide more details. The game boots, plays all intro videos, plays all start of game videos, gets into the game, and plays the full funeral video without issue
