8BitDo controller does not work for playing the game

Describe the Bug

When using the 8BitDo Pro 2 controller in either DirectInput or XInput mode, nothing works. You can't even press Start to begin the game; no buttons respond.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Buy a 8BitDo pro 2 controller
2. Pair it to a windows 11 computer
3. Have the controller either in directinput or xinput
4. Start the game
5. No buttons work

Expected Behavior

Be able to start the game and use a controller to play it.
